In this role, you will:
- Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area
- Contribute in increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks
- Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Work with vendors and other technical personnel for problem resolution
- Lead team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards
- Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
Responsibilities
Provides 16x7 Engineering and Platform support. Manages and monitors all installed applications, systems and infrastructure (on-prem / cloud / hybrid) on the platform. Installs, configures, optimizes, transforms, tests and maintains servers, operating systems, applications and system management tools. Tasks include but not limited to Maintenance, Administration and pre/post patching.
Ensures the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. Maintains security back-up, and redundancy strategies.
Checks and ensures that there are no compliance issues with IT standards, certificates, software exceptions and others. Writes and maintains custom scripts or code to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any task, thereby showing continuous effort to optimize and transform existing processes and technologies. Must be actively responsible in reducing the number of repeatable issues over time by using automation or other strategies.
Develops new documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guides. Also creates new workflows or dashboards.
Verifies program logic by overseeing the preparation of test data, testing and debugging of programs. Oversees overall systems testing and the migration of platforms and applications to production. Suggests and improves all monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
Provides guidance and direction to less experienced staff in resolution of escalated issues and/or complex production, application or system problems (escalation point of contact).
Participates in the design of information and operational support systems. Provides platform support for Systems/Applications and liaises with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
Acts as a lead in providing application design guidance and consultation, utilizing a thorough understanding of applicable technology, tools and existing designs.
Understands compliance and risk management requirements for supported system area. Acts as an expert technical resource for modeling, simulation and analysis efforts. Monitors work progress and adherence to technical process controls/standards.
Leads projects, allocates and manages resources and manages the work of less experienced staff. Assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area and oversees creation of or updates to and testing of the business continuation plan
Essential Qualifications:
- Overall 8+ years of experience in Production / Application support teams (including installations / deployments / configurations)
- 4+ years of experience in Windows or Linux Administration
- Willingness to work on shifts 16x7, flexible working hours and attend late night calls
- Change management experience
- For Windows environments – experience in IIS, SQL Server Administration, Windows administration, Windows PowerShell scripting
- For Linux environments - experience in Unix Scripting
- Experience with app or web servers such as Apache, Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere, JBOSS (and/or combination of these)
- Experience with databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, NoSQL (and/or combination of these)
- Intermediate SQL experience
- DevOps tools/experience - Github, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Ansible
- Experience with SRE, Application, System and Database monitoring jobs / tools such as AppDynamics, Splunk, Netcool, Autosys, Elk and Basemon
- SSL Certificate management experience
- Knowledge of ticket tracking tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy
- Experience with Agile / Kanban methodologies
Desired Qualifications:
- History of implementation of efficiencies, resiliencies, automations and transformations
- ITIL 4 or 5 experience
