Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • As part of the Documentation Team, the candidate will be responsible for all help content developed for our in-house product SMART by GEP.
  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Participate in documentation review processes for ensuring compliance to organizations quality standards.
  • Write easy-to-understand instructions, guides, and text, online help and developer guides. Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications.
  • Revise, edit, or update instructions, technical information, and frequently asked questions as necessary.

Desired Candidate Profile

Primary Skills (Must Have)

  • Should have experience of using tech writing tools like Madcap Flare.
  • Experience of working with multimedia tools like Camtasia.
  • Experience of working on end-user help content like User Guides, Online Help, Quick Reference Guides, Video Tutorials, preferably in the software product domain.
  • Ability to work together with Product Management, Engineering and QA teams, to understand the product and its features.
  • Ability to analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single sourcing opportunities.
  • Ability to understand the need for end-user documentation and build manuals from scratch.
  • Should be able to grasp complex workflows and processes and reproduce them in simple, clear, and concise language.
  • Should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Secondary Skills (Preferred)

  • Ability to ideate innovative solutions for product documentation and take them to closure.
  • Ability to work with templates and create templates, if need be.
  • Experience with automating repetitive tasks.
  • Experience in DITA in Technical Writing.
  • Experience in creating walkthroughs and WalkMe type flows.
