JD:
Responsibilities:
Monitoring system and application performance, troubleshooting issues and outages using tools like
Nagios, Graphite, Pingdom
Graphing system and application metrics using Graphite, Ganglia, Kibana, Grafana
Install and configure operating system and software application though automation systems like Puppet,
FAI and WDS
Ensuring security through penetration testing tools like Nessus
User management on both Linux and Windows using active directory services and puppet
Use Python and Bash to automate operational tasks, write system application checks, etc
Support and ensure functionality and uptime of platforms like openstack, icinga
Data backup and archival - Tape Library
Data center operations tasks, install and configure hardware, troubleshooting issues and remedy, rack and blade server management
Patching of Operating system
Basic storage management - SAN, Iscsi, DAS, NAS
Basic AWS operations - instance reboots, disk extensions, IAM user management, etc
Incident/outage response, troubleshooting and fix for various product/services, handle escalations as per set procedures
Get different internal groups together to resolve production site issues, communicate clearly on tickets, make phone calls to the team about various issues
Liaison with engineering teams for RCA's, permanent resolutions on issues affecting production sites
Contribute to Operations handbook
Support Collocation, Aws and Openstack infrastructure
You are acquainted with some of the below skill set/tools :-
Linux: Good understanding of Linux Systems
Any of Bash, Python and Powershell
Windows: Windows 2012/16/19
Directory services like Active Directory
Automation and configuration management tools like Puppet
DNS/DHCP
Nagios, Grafana, Graphite, Kibana, ELK Stack
Os installation tools :- FAI, Windows Deployment Service
Versioning control system - Git
Veritas Backup Exec to manage Tape Library
Nessus scanner - vulnerability detection system
AWS system operations
Openstack, Docker basics
Fundamentals: Basic DNS & Networking, TCP/UDP, IP Routing, HA & Load Balancing Concepts
Application Protocols: SMTP, HTTP, FTP, IMAP, POP
Storage basics :- SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Multipath, MPIO, NFS, CIFS
Good to have:
Systems/Hardware: RAID, LOM/IPMI/IP KVMs, Dell Hardware.
Windows: WMI, Powershell/VB scripts, MS-SQL Fundamentals.
Applications: Database Systems Fundamentals, Nginx, Apache, Haproxy, Tomcat.
Others: Regular expressions, Rescue Kits like TRK etc
Excellent Communication Skills
Resourcefulness and problem solving aptitude
BE/BTech/BSC in Information Technology or related discipline
