Job Description

Job Title: Staff Nurse-OT

Department: Nursing

Reporting to: In charge-OT

Location: Chennai

Job Summary: Responsible for providing exceptional care for the patient in the pre-operative environment and monitor overall operations of OT.

  • To participate in the safe use of medical devices, ensuring that all equipment is maintained in working order.
  • Participates in ongoing consultation and collaboration with physicians and other care providers to maximize patient outcomes and unit specific goals People
  • Provide training to new personnel on Operation Theatre procedures on a routine basis.
  • Demonstrates willingness to assist co-workers whenever needed
  • Interacting with peers, colleagues and participating in meetings to ensure that staff are advised of ongoing changes, requirements and preparation. Customer
  • Responsible for coordinating with the biomedical department on issues related to equipments.
  • Coordinate with cross functional departments and ensure timely receiving of the reports
  • Coordinating of departments activities maintaining stocks and storing of drugs.
  • Assures the availability of necessary equipment, supplies, and instrumentation is established and continually managed.
  • Maintains good working relationships with other departments and with physicians, patients, families and outside agencies Operations
  • Responsible for preparing the operation room prior to the operation and verify the necessary supplies and tools
  • Responsible for maintaining the OT equipment’s & sterilization area of the OT.
  • Timely identification and communication of any issues to ward manager.
  • Ensure the decontamination of instruments and equipment and properly dispose of contaminated materials.
  • Ensure proper documentation of OT patients and maintain their records.
  • Responsible for preparing gate passes for sending equipment’s & coordinate with security.
  • Assist the physician in treatments and surgical operations.
  • Be informed to surgeon on the arrival of the patient.
  • Responsible for instructing the patient in carrying out the physician's treatment
  • Furnishing correct information to the physician about patient condition based on the observation and recording documenting accurately.
  • Responsible for overseeing the consumable book entry pre-& post operation.

Any other portfolio that may be entrusted by the management from time to time.

Educational Qualifications:

General Nursing

Work Experience

  • 3– 4 years of experience in OT.
  • Good understanding of different procedure.
  • Attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
