GENERAL SUMMARY

Mechanical Engineer with 1 years experience actively involved in the mechanical engineering and design of electro-mechanical packaged devices and open test platforms for the wireless industry. Experience with defining outline, mounting, and I/O constraints of electronic circuit boards and flexible circuit interconnects. Experience with stack up and support of circuit boards in a test assembly. Expected to possess a strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals for working on complex design tasks with some supervision. Experience with design fundamentals of CNC machined, injection molded, sheet metal, and die-cast metal parts.

Good knowledge of mechanical part fabrication processes and optimization of assembly cost at various production volumes. Solid experience with electro-mechanical packaging for open test platforms, test and assembly fixture design and testing procedures for volume testing. Understands project goals and individual contribution toward those goals. Good knowledge of software tools for mechanical analysis, design and documentation. Working experience with Creo / Proe including top-down methods for assembly management.

Knowledge of Agile configuration management system preferred but not required. Direct experience with thermal analysis and/or RF antenna design a plus. BSME or equivalent preferred. The successful candidate will operate as a member of Corporate Mechanical Engineering department design team supporting high volume test platforms. Responsibilities include working with internal HW, mechanical, customer engineering, Test engineering, and manufacturing personnel for requirements, direction and concept development from prototype thru production builds. Candidate will be responsible in helping to execute design of assembly test platforms for high volume testing platforms, creating and updating solid models of mechanical parts and electro-mechanical assemblies, creating detailed mechanical drawings, and working with vendors and procurement teams in on time deliveries of parts for builds. The engineer will interface with internal staff in the fast-paced execution of a variety of multi-disciplined projects.

  • Utilizing Top Down solid modelling for 3D design databases.
  • Expected to possess a strong understanding of mechanical engineering and analysis fundamentals.
  • Design Constraint and EMN file set ups and transfers to CAD for board layout from ID Mech to Electrical CAD for layout.
  • Detailed Mechanical Project leadership skills.
  • Experience with hands on mechanical design using 3D CAD tools.
  • Experience with display LCD into packaged designs.
  • Experience with PDM systems, preferred Agile, for BOM and project management.
  • Experience with Mobile Handset, Laptop product design and IOT products
  • Experience working with RF, BaseBand, Thermal, Product management teams in coming up with design concepts.
  • Experience specifying appropriate components into a form factor packaged design.
  • Experience working with design teams for optimization based on analysis results.
  • Experience with product requirements such as vibration, shock, antenna performance, industrial design, safety, human factors, and cost.
  • Demonstrated success in working with HW teams for appropriate product definitions and direction.
  • Solid understanding of design, fabrication and procurement fundamentals for CNC, injection molded, die cast and stamped metal parts.
  • Understands project goals and individual contribution toward those goals.
  • Effectively communicates with project peers and engineering personnel via e-mail, web meetings, and instant messaging including status reports and illustrative presentation slides.
  • Interact and collaborate with other internal mechanical engineers for optimal product development processes and schedule execution.
  • Effectively multitasks and meets aggressive schedules in a dynamic environment.
  • Prepare and deliver design reviews to project team.
  • 1+ years actively involved in mechanical engineering packaged design.
  • 1+ 3D solid modelling design tools experience utilizing Proe / Creo or equiv.
  • Packaged design experience utilizing Plastic Injection Molded parts, Die Cast, Sheet metal parts, machined parts.
  • Understanding of Antenna design, RF, Thermal and ID constraint requirements for form factor designs.
