Job Description

Required Technical skills:

• RHEL certification is advantage.
• Knowledge on NIS, DNS, LDAP, NTP, FTP.
• Manage linux servers such as DHCP, DNS (Bind), Proxy (Squid), Email (Dovecot, Postfix), Firewall (iptables), Web server (Apache), Database (MySQL, PostgreSQL), Backups (rsnapshot), Monitoring (Nagios, Cacti), Security (OSSEC), Documentation (Mediawiki), VPN (openvpn), LDAP (389DS, OpenLDAP), Virtualization (HyperV, Xen) etc

(Knowledge of some of these technologies or alternatives)

• Have knowledge on Hyper-V or any virtualization tool.
• Monitoring server performance through tools like Icinga/Nagios.
• Knowledge on splunk monitoring.
• Performance Monitoring tuning using iostat, vmstat and netstat.
• Managing system security patches.(Patch Management).
• Fixing the issues related to system vulnerability(System security).
• Linux administrators need to be highly analytical and able to examine error logs, system performance data, and user information to ensure a high level of usability and reliability.
• Problem-solving skill: while installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux systems and servers, administrators often need to employ creative and technical problem-solving skills to resolve issues or devise a new solution.
• Need to manage legacy OS issues also.
• Knowledge on clustering technology.
• Managing the up gradation on different tools with prior downtime taken from the client.
• Monitoring Virtual memory, adding additional swap space as needed.
• File system administration and management like monitoring various logs, file system sizes etc.
• Development, Production and QA Servers monitoring and Maintenance.
• Systems administration, maintenance and monitoring various day-to-day operations.
• Creating records in weekly basis and monthly Basis for the Performance and Availability of the Environment.
• Automation of day-day run-maintain activities using shell/Perl/Python scripts
• Work with PSA ( Production Stop Analyst ), apprise the situation and help in resolution of the same

Desired Skills:

• Extensive experience with Linux
• Experience implementing servers and related products and technologies
• Experience with Server O/S installation technologies
• Experience with visualization technology.
• Moderate experience with networking and VLANs
• Experience with backup and recovery software and techniques
• Experience with security policies, policy monitoring and intrusion detection
• Experience with Linux server, SAN fabric, and storage (basic knowledge) and capacity planning
• Experience implementing virtualization technologies and executing consolidation methodologies
• Security Compliance and patching
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Contacting multiple teams to configure the different services.
• Interactions with customer direct and score better CSAT s.
• Coordinating with Various Application Team and making Configuration File Changes recommended by the Application Team.
• Ability to manage analysis of problems and service requests with a defined process by the client.
• Planning & Resolving the Issues within the Specified down time.
• Systems administration, maintenance and monitoring various day-to-day operations.
• Basic diagnosis and escalation of alerts to appropriate Authorities.
