Job Description

The IT Business Analyst is responsible for identifying and defining the business needs of their clients and stakeholders and helping to determine solutions to meet business needs or resolve business problems. This work is typically within a specific business area. The role may be part of an IT project development environment or an individual contributor at the business interface.

  • Able to link technical solutions with business strategy when working with business partners.
  • Perform stakeholder management activities. Creates opportunities to make the stakeholder feel valued and develop trust.
  • Volunteers for community leadership roles. Supports the regional networks through leading activities, presenting topics, and coaching others
  • Participates in team effort to create new best practice material based on identified gaps. Serves as an SME for specific tools, techniques, or business areas.
  • Participates in industry IT BA related activities such as IIBA webcasts and/or chapter meetings and applies learnings within Shell including sharing of learnings

Skills & Requirement:

  • Typical years of IT Experience: 0-4yrs.
  • Minimum Education or Certification: Bachelors Degree preferably related to IT.
  • Knowledge and Skill of Business Analysis techniques and tools.
  • Agile delivery knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the technology landscape including current and future developments and the most commonly available products and integrated solutions, or a demonstrated ability to learn it.
  • Ability to take a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving and pay close attention to detail.
  • Able to act as a focal point for a specialized area (technical or business).
  • Demonstrates a concern and aptitude for considering the user s perspective in IT development. and has a deep understanding of user aspects of interactive systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Clear and Concise communication.
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of business process improvement, benefits and risk management.

Additional Information:

  • Support facilitation of collaborative workshops to define opportunities and idea generation
  • Work with business, customers and a cross functional project team to explore business problems
  • Analyze and document conversations to extract key business insights and tell the story to business stakeholders and Project teams
  • Bring business context into the solution space with a human centric philosophy and adopt agile methodologies throughout the project duration
  • Knowledge and experience of lean innovation projects and methods
  • Collaborate closely with a multi-functional product team: product owner, designers and developers
  • Assist the Product Owner with managing Product backlog and defining a Minimum Viable Product
  • Aware of scrum, Kanban and lean innovation frameworks
  • Curious to learn and adapt to new ways of working and thinking.
  • Appreciate the impact of incremental and disruptive ideas/innovation on ways of working and the greater business
  • Ability to evaluate user needs and project priorities
  • Have an understanding of the implications of technology on projects
  • Able to communicate work effectively through storytelling and visuals
  • Able to effectively manage and leverage stakeholders within Shell
  • Have a strategic mindset of approaching business problems
  • Have the mindset to adapt to agile ways of working, design, and lean innovation methodologies
  • An interest in new ways of working and disruptive business ideas
