Description
This position would be responsible for administering and supporting very large MySQL databases in our production environment. Proactive monitoring of databases for ensuring performance would be a primary responsibility. This person would have knowledge of performance optimization and database monitoring tools.
They will have to perform appropriate backup, restoration and upgrades of database servers as needed. This person should be proactive, responsible and available to work during an emergency.
As our development environment matures, we will need this position to guide our migration to better architecture and as a guide to best practices, SQL coding, stored procedures, index management, triggers and functions.
Required skills
- At least 2 years of relational database administration (MySQL) experience.
- Good knowledge of MySQL query optimization and normalization.
- Design and implementation of platform architectures to support business requirements.
- Experience in replication (master-slave and master-master) / Clustering / Tuning / Sizing and monitoring current and future environments.
- Backup and Recovery implementation after careful consideration of logical and physical failure scenarios.
- Experience working with Cloud-based infrastructure with MySQL over RDS will be a plus.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
